Student Meal Charges
Moriarty Edgewood School District elementary students will only be allowed three meal charges for breakfast and lunch.
The following will be the districtâs procedures for handling elementary student meal charges.
Elementary Student meal charges for the first three charges will remain unchanged.
After the third charge:
Elementary Students will receive an alternative meal:
Breakfast â Graham crackers and white milk
Lunch - Peanut butter sandwich and white milk
A 50 cents fee will be assessed for every alternative meal the student receives.
Nutritional Services
The cashier will prepare and provide the âfirst noticeâ letter for the teacher on the day of occurrence. A free/reduced meal application will also be sent home.
Teacher
The classroom teacher will send the âfirst noticeâ letter out to the parents on the day of occurrence.
Principal
Nutritional Services will provide the principal a weekly list of student charges. The principal, will then contact parents regarding these charges. An inquiry will be made to determine whether family circumstances have changed and a free/reduced meal application is needed.
These same steps will be repeated after every third charge acquired by the student.
Principals will request support from school organizations for funds to assist familyâs in temporary crisis.
Deadline:
Students will not be allowed to charge any meals after the second Friday in May.
